Weekends are the days which we tend to sleep in a little longer and hence brunch will be the most comforting meal of the day during this time…

This time round, we have planned to visit the Lola’s Café which is much raved by social media as one of the must-try cafés in Singapore.

There was a massive crowd outside the café, waiting to enter in the midst of light drizzles on a Sunday morning and we were told by the staff that the minimum waiting time was 1.5hours.

Famished, we visited  IVINS Nyonya Specialties Peranakan Casual Dining @ Heartland Mall, Kovan for a quick bite first before heading back to Lola’s Café to try their food.

Lola’s Café is situated under a row of shophouses and has a nostalgic ambience. The café itself is rather crammed with the constant influx of diners. The seats are not that spacious and we do not have room for our handbags 🙁

Le’ Menu

The menu is rather decent and offers quite a good variety of food. 

Also, if you are technology savvy enough, you may download the “Big Spoon” App to browse the menu (with photos) and even place your order through that app. It is really convenient! The downside of the app is that it might hang / lag for a while when you press the “Place Order” button. Other than that, everything is pretty fine and user-friendly.

With this new technological innovation, the café can save their manpower to do other things besides taking orders. As consumers, we save on the 10% Service Charge at our end too. Therefore it is a win-win situation for us 🙂

This dish tasted mediocre as we have tried better ones at Hatched previously. But the avocado really did enhance the taste of this dish somehow 🙂 Pricing wise, it is really reasonable.

The dessert tasted great but I cannot really taste the black tea content in the brownie. Also, we realised that they incorporated one whole prune into the brownie because I happened to bite on the entire prune coincidentally.

This is not so friendly especially when we are sharing this dessert amongst ourselves (that is what we usually do to diversify our calories intake). Hence I got to taste one full prune whilst the other 2 princesses had none (don’t kill me please). Would appreciate if they can just slice the prune into smaller bits and mix it homogeneously with the brownie mixture before baking it.

Our verdict is that the food tasted pretty average (but acceptable) and we might not come back to queue for over 1 hour for a second time.
