I am a sucker when it comes to dolling myself up. I’d rather spend the time and money on eating good food with Sweetie Muffin than spend it on beauty services like spa, facials, manicures etc.

I’ll only pamper myself to a hair overhaul during Chinese New Year or once in a blue moon, when I feel like it as I do not enjoy having my hair / face touched by others. I have had a terrible experience when a hairdresser hacked my long hair off in seconds before I could react to it and my heart was bleeding the moment I knew my long hair was gone 

Hence I’ll only go to salons that I trust in short.

My previous Korean Setting Perm lasted me for 3 months + and it was rather durable, considering that I was too lazy to apply serums / twirl my hair whilst blowdrying.

Hence, I have decided to give my hair a MAJOR OVERHAUL at my favourite Korean Hair Salon – ZINC Korean Hair Salon @ The Centrepoint. I made my appointment via email and had Sweetie Muffin to drive me over to the Salon early this morning to get my hair revamped (they are pretty prompt in replying emails, but if you can’t wait, you can just give them a ring).

If not, you may just alight at Somerset MRT and cross the road. The Centrepoint is just opposite 🙂

Settling Down

I was given a silky robe to wear once I arrived… Felt really comfy and dainty ♥♥ ~~~ Rany, my hairstylist, came and handed me the hair colour chart for me to pick my colour.

Again, I showed her one of the photos of a model which I have obtained on google and told her I wanted a hair colour similar to hers… So she recommended me to get some nice brown shades and I chose a deep golden mahogany colour.

#1: Applying the Chemicals

Rany helped to drape a towel over my shoulders and her assistant helped me to rub some chemicals onto my scalp and blow-dry my hair after a while…

#2: Dyeing Le’ Hair

Both Rany and her assistant then applied the hair dye onto my tresses and left the chemicals to react with the timer set.

I was pretty impressed when the assistant helped me wear the plastic ear guards on my ears to prevent my ear from getting dyed in the process – you don’t normally find these mini shower caps looking stuff in hair salons…

I was rather pleased that the chemicals do not have the strong ammonia smell and the smell was bearable. Also, my scalp do not sting like it usually would when compared to me having my hair coloured in other salons.

During the entire procedure, a warm drink was served – to me and also Sweetie Muffin.

Also, I was given a soft cushion to hug and rest my hands upon and also a Korean Magazine to read. Rany said I could see the pictures since I do not understand Korean 😉 ~ How nice!

Also, I admire the assistant’s eye for detail – she noticed that Sweetie Muffin was surfing the internet on his iPad and automatically gave him a slip of paper with the salon’s wifi password written on it~ How very sweet of her!

Hair Treatment

After the timer rang, I was escorted to have my hair rinsed before the treatment serum was applied onto my hair.

 

Then, my hair was steamed for some time…

My hair was rinsed again. I was grateful that they provided me a blanket as the salon can be quite cold after sitting there for a few hours…

After my hair was blow-dry, Rany assisted to trim my tresses. I could feel that my hair was more manageable after the intensive steam treatment 🙂

The thing I love about Rany is that she is very meticulous and patient when it comes to hair styling. She will snip off every section of my hair with care 🙂

Rany then continued to style my hair with the blowdryer and a brush.. I was amazed that she could create big wavy curls without using curling thongs!

Overall

I am again a very satisfied customer! I love this salon not only for Rany’s professional hairstyling skills, but also for their positive work attitude and great service. Also, we observed that there was great teamwork between the crew – every staff is willing to take the initiative to come over to assist (be it blow-drying or application of chemicals) once they have finished their existing tasks on hand. This is something that we do not see in most salons as most hairstylists would be found slacking or worse – dolling themselves up in front of the mirror whenever they are free. Rena did walk over to help blow-dry my hair after she helped another customer apply hair dye – I was indeed very honoured to be served by 3 people throughout my entire stay there 🙂

Last but not least, I was grateful to have the companionship of my supportive Sweetie Muffin who acted as my handy photographer throughout. Thank God for everything, Amen.
