The Glomax Experience
As mentioned in my previous blog post, I have been going to Glomax Aesthetics for my regular facial treatments for more than half a year. Hence I’ve decided to dedicate a blog post to share my overall experience with Glomax 😉
Intensive Acne Medic Treatment (S$150)
As I have acne-prone skin, the consultant at Glomax recommended me to try the Intensive Acne Medic Treatment to help improve my skin condition.
The benefits of the Intensive Acne Medic Treatment include:
- Reduce Oil Production
- Remove Blackheads, Whiteheads & Dead Skin
- Controls & Reduces Acne Bacteria
- Diminish Existing Acne
- Improve Skin Texture
- Help Prevent New Breakout
Step 1: Skin Analysis
I had a detailed consultation session with Glomax’s consultant on my skin issues (adult acne) and was given a complimentary skin analysis service to determine which treatment suits be best. Hence we concluded on the Intensive Acne Medic Treatment.
Step 2: Makeup Removal
Before the therapist can proceed with any facial treatment, it is important that the face has to be cleansed of makeup. I seldom wear makeup but this step was carried out on me to remove my sunblock.
Step 3: Double Cleansing
The first wash removes surface cosmetics and the second wash allows cleanser to reach the skin’s surface to clean pores and treat blemishes as well as remove any makeup residue and dry/dead skin cells.
Step 4: Extraction
After cleansing my face, the therapist went ahead to apply a softening gel to help soften my skin for easier extraction. The gel was allowed to sit on my face for a good 10-15 minutes before the extraction process.
I felt that the pain level from extraction was greatly reduced with the application of this softening gel.
Step 5: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment
After extraction, the therapist would use the IPL Machine on me. IPL treatments are effective on those who are suffering from mild to moderate inflammatory acne. It helps to clear up pustules and active inflammation and improve the appearance of facial scarring as well.
I could feel the warmth of the IPL when it hits my face but no pain was experienced at this stage.
Step 6: Treatment Mask
After the IPL treatment, a personalized treatment mask would be applied to help soothe the skin to help reduce bacteria and relieve inflammation.
Depending on your skin condition that day, a hydrating /soothing mask will be applied and you will be left to rest for a good 15-20 minutes before the therapist removes the mask.
Step 7: Apply Moisturizer & SPF Sunblock
As acne-prone skin is not suited for any facial massages, a moisturizer & SPF Sunblock will be applied to cleansed skin afterward. Moisturizing the skin adequately helps reduce the appearance of pigments and fine lines and helps improve skin smoothness and hydration for the skin. And the application of SPF Sunblock ensures that your face is adequately protected from harmful UV Rays especially after the IPL treatment.
GloMD Skincare Products
Besides going for monthly facial treatments, daily skincare at home is also very important for acne-prone skin. Hence I was gifted with 2 products from the GloMD Skincare Line to try.
GloMD HYA+ Serum
The GloMD HYA+ Serum contain highest quality Hyaluronic Acid to improve skin smoothness and intensely hydration for the skin. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well.
IngredientsSodium Hyaluronate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Rose Water, Azulene
I have tried many hydrating serums previously and I must say that GloMD HYA+ Serum is one of the more superior ones I’ve tried as it contains Sodium Hyaluronate – the highest grade for Hyaluronic Acid. The serum is in the clear, gel-like texture and it gets absorbed into the skin without any greasiness & stickiness.
Hyaluronic Acid is known in the beauty industry for its moisture-binding characteristic which is why it is widely used in anti-aging products to maintain youthful skin. Acne-prone skin is often due to dehydration due to the anti-acne products used to dry acne. Hence using a good Hyaluronic Acid serum can help give the skin a boost of hydration and help to plump the skin at the same time.
GloMD Stem Cell Bio Cellulose Mask
The GloMD Stem Cell Bio Cellulose Mask is clinically tested and specifically formulated for the relief of damaged skin following dermatological procedures such as peeling, MTS, IPL, Fraxel, CO2, burns, PIH, redness, dryness and other associated laster treatments.
Ingredients
Water, Alcohol, Glycereth-26, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Betaine, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cellulose Gum, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Ethylhexyl-glycerin, Adenosine, Flavour, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Callus Culture Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Rose Flower Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Soy Flour, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, EGF
One interesting feature of this mask is that it is made from coconut fiber and hence will follow the contour of the face.
The mask contains Bio-Cellulose, a highly polymerized compound created by fermentation of natural ingredient (coconut water) and Acetobacter Xylinum, using mass culture technology.
Unlike conventional facial masks, the GloMD Stem Cell Bio Cellulose Mask feels like a piece of silicon gel (due to the coconut fibre) and it fits my small face snugly like a glove!
Also, the face feels very hydrated after application due to the presence of Hyaluronic Acid & Beta-Glucan. However, this mask is not free of chemical additives, so I wouldn’t recommend this to those who are into 100% Natural Skincare.
