10 Essentials To Pack For A Holiday
It’s almost end of the year now and I’m sure many of you have travel plans this holiday season. I have just returned from Seoul, Korea and hence would like to do a post to share with you my 10 Essentials To Pack For a Holiday (Autumn / Winter Edition).
As I reside in a tropical country where it is Summer all year round, it will take me some time to adapt to the colder & dryer climates of Autumn & Winter.
#1 Once A Week Deodorant
Once A Week Deodorant
This might sound absurd.. Why do I need to pack a deodorant when traveling to colder countries?
You’d never know when will you perspire and smell bad underneath right? So still gotta play safe and pack one of these..
The key benefits of this Once A Week Deodorant are:
- It is paper thin! A packet contains 3 pieces of individually packed wet wipes. Unlike your conventional deodorants, it doesn’t occupy much space in your luggage at all!
- You only need to apply this deodorant ONCE A WEEK (i.e. every 7 days) as this product amazingly prevents body odour for up to 7 days!
- Zero-Stickiness, leaves no trace after application and is Stain-Free too
- It is non-toxic (i.e. free of alcohol, fragrance and aluminium) unlike most anti-perspirants in the markets
- Does not clog pores
- Suitable for ALL skin types and is gentle to sensitive skin
- You may wipe the product on the soles of your feet if you have smelly feet after wiping it on your underarms
#2 Ear Muffs
Colder weather calls for a fluffy pair of ear muffs.

The temperature in Seoul was so cold that it dropped to negative 2 degrees celcius on a couple of days when we were there although it was supposed to be autumn.
That was the time when I first experienced the slicing cold that froze my ears, giving me a terrible headache when I was walking along the streets of Myeong-dong.
I thought I was going deaf till I rushed to the nearest indoor premise to warm myself up.
#3 Inner-wear / Long Johns
My previous experience taught me that coats do not really keep us warm – inner-wears do.
Uniqlo’s HEATTECH
Hence I purchased a couple of HEATTECH products from Uniqlo and they served me so well, not to mention that they are very affordable too!
#4 Scarves / Neck Warmers
It is essential to keep our neck warm at all times. Hence scarves / neck warmers do play an important part as well.
They also add a pop of colour to our dull outfit too!
#5 Outerwear (Jackets / Coats)
ZARA Leather Jacket
I will usually layer a jacket over my HEATTECH inner wear followed by a coat for the added warmth.
For this trip, I brought with me ZARA’s Leather Effect Jacket because it simply looks very cool and inset-worthy!
It annoys me that coats usually take up so much space in my luggage – in fact, half of my luggage space is gone as it was occupied by 2 coats.
It only makes it worthwhile for me to bring multiple coats if you intend to take different Travel OOTDs to spice up your travel album. Would suggest you to get versatile coats whereby you can wear it two ways (i.e. those convertible ones where you can flip & wear them inside out).
#6 Essential Oils
Essential Oils are lightweight and come in handy most of the times.
My 3 must-bring essential oils are Melaleuca, DigestZen & Breathe from döTERRA.
Breathe Respiratory Blend
döTERRA Breathe Respiratory Blend
My hubs have serious sinus issues and he has blocked & runny nose whenever he is in cold environment. Hence the Breath Respiratory Blend is his daily go-to product.
- Blend of Essential Oils including Laurel Leaf, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Melaleuca, Lemon, Ravensara, and Cardamom
- Helps to maintain clear airways and easy breathing
- Can be applied topically to the chest, back, or bottom of feet, or diffused at night to calm the senses and promote a restful sleep
Melaleuca (Tea Tree)
döTERRA Melaleuca (Tea Tree) Essential Oil
As I have acne-prone skin, I will always apply Melaleuca to my face after washing it to soothe my skin irritations.
Melaleuca is best known for its purifying properties and inhaling the oil will promote feelings of clear breathing.
DigestZen Digestive Blend
Both hubs & I have weak stomachs. Having to dine in a foreign land means exposing our stomachs to foods that might cause indigestion. Also, I tend to be prone to motion sickness when travelling on a car for long hours.
This unique blend contains Ginger, Fennel, and Coriander to help ease occasional stomach discomfort, including motion sickness & indigestion. It contains Peppermint, Tarragon, Anise, & Caraway to aid with digestion as well.
We will usually apply the DigestZen on our stomach or add a few drops to water to be ingested directly for faster results.
#7 Sunglasses
A good pair of sunglasses protect your eyes from the glare of the sun’s ray.
Also, it adds some chic to your outfit and helps to conceal facial imperfections when you’re too lazy to apply makeup whilst on the go.
I managed to get a good deal out of my sunnies from Cotton On – I purchased 2 pairs for SGD20 and they looked stunning on me!
#8 Nail Clipper
Accidentally chipped your nails, or have dead skin hanging on your cuticles? How about some flyaway threads on your clothing (especially knits) and bags? A pair of nail clippers can be a game changer if you have one in your purse!
Admit it, I bet you cannot survive your entire trip with dead skin dangling on your cuticles like myself too.
#9 Dental Care Products
I tend to be particular when it comes to oral hygiene. As we get to eat ALOT whilst overseas, it makes sense for us to take care of our oral hygiene twice a day right?
Imagine how disgusting it will be if you are to sleep with food stucked in between your teeth every night…
#10 Tinted Lip Balms
Lip Balms
My lips are prone to chapping when exposed to the dry climate.
Hence a good lip balm helps to protect my lips and keep it moisturised. Tinted ones help to make my lips pop and perfect my overall facial complexion too!
