STREET 50 Restaurant and Bar: Bejewelled Christmas by the Bay {Media Invite}

Iced Lychee Tea (SGD6) and Soda Gembira (SGD6) |
First things first – we were so thirsty from all the travelling from our office all the way to Harbour Front. Hence we ordered some soda drinks to cool ourselves down first.
The Soda Gambira consists of Rose Syrup, Evaporated Milk and Soda. It simply tasted like Bandung with fizzy soda water. We also tried their Ais Serai (SGD6) – a strong tasting lemongrass drink with soda. Both of them are a must-try when you are there!

Black Pepper Alaskan Crab Claw with Ginko Nut |
The Black Pepper Alaskan Crab Claw with Ginko Nut is another hot favourite of mine. I love the spiciness from the black pepper and Chef Ricky cleverly incorporated ginkgo nuts into the dish for a touch of Asian flavour.

However, go easy on the ginkgo nuts. An average man should consume no more than 9 ginkgo nuts a day as the nuts will become toxic if you overeat them and you may really go nuts just by eating ginkgo nuts. So, STOP eating them.
Bay Scallop with Warm Tomato Essence |
The Bay Scallop with Warm Tomato Essence tasted great but the so-called “Tomato Essence” simply tasted like the typical tomato sauce used for Spaghetti Bolognese.

Seafood Paella |
Seafood Paella on the other hand was a letdown to us as the paella tasted pretty soggy and lacked texture.

How can we skip eating Turkey for this festive season right?
Turkey Breast |
The Turkey Breast was considered less dry than the average turkey meat we eat in other dining outlets. I am not a fan of turkey meat anyways because I prefer to have more moisture in my meats.
But but but..
What kept me eating the meat was the dressing served with it!

I am SUPER DUPER in LOVE with the GREEN Sauce consisting of a refreshing blend of cucumbers, coriander and yoghurt. Although some might be put off by the coriander, I am a huge fan of it – I can literally eat ANYTHING with that green sauce. Perhaps I should just ask the Chef to prepare a HUGE TUB of it for me to enjoy at home like how I enjoyed Llaollao.? 😀
Crépe Suzette |
Desserts wise was another disappointment.
Crépe tasted rather soggy but the sauce was acceptable.

Recommendations
I would highly recommend the Smoked Oyster and Crab Cake and the Black Pepper Alaskan Crab Claw with Ginko Nut from the Bejewelled Christmas by the Bay Christmas Buffet Dinner Menu. So just save your stomach space for these 2 dishes – they will never fail you.

This was indeed the most innovative and delectable fusion dessert I’ve ever tasted as nobody would’ve imagined that Burbur Cha Cha can go so well with Crème Brûlée!
