Holiday Collection Savvy Minerals

Savvy Minerals by Young Living Launch Event

I was honored to attend the Savvy Minerals by Young Living Launch Event with my bunch of Essential Oils fanatics friends last weekend. Although I have not applied makeup on my face for almost a year now, I’m still curious to find out more about toxic-free cosmetics because the conventional ones I used previously made me breakout badly.

I was excited to see renowned makeup artist Clarence Lee demonstrating the use of Savvy Minerals onstage. Also, I was even more stoked to see my “idol” – Harnisch (author of Gameplan & Fearless). They are so warm and big-hearted!

Why Savvy Minerals

At the very start of the launch event, Young Living‘s Royal Crown Diamond – Erin Rodgers shared with us the common toxic chemicals found in cosmetics:

  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Lead
  • Talc
  • Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde-releasing preservatives
  • PEG Compounds
  • Butylated Compounds (BHT, BHA)
  • Phenacetin
  • Nano Particles
  • Coal Tar
  • Benzene
  • Mineral Oil
  • Bismuth
  • Fragrance

And she went on to elaborate that although the chemical concentrations of each cosmetic product are moderated at the safe levels, our bodies are still susceptible to chemical overload. This is because we do not use only one product, we use a range of skincare and cosmetics on our skin every single day and hence this leads to bioaccumulation. Bioaccumulation is scary because continuous exposure overloads our natural detoxification systems and leads to a buildup in our bodies.

In view of the above, Savvy Minerals is born to help enhance our beauty without compromising on our exposure to chemicals. Savvy Minerals is mineral makeup such as iron oxides, zinc oxide, and titanium dioxide that are micronized, or ground and milled into tiny particles to create makeup.

Savvy Minerals is totally free of the above harmful chemicals and is:

  • Vegan-Friendly (except for lip products which might contain beeswax)
  • Cruelty-Free
  • Non-Nano Particles
  • Made with mineral based ingredients
  • Enhances Natural Beauty
  • Long-lasting, all-day wear

In addition to the above, she went on to emphasize that we ought to take good care of our skin and not attempt to use makeup to cover up our skin condition because, at the end of the day, we still have to remove our makeup.

“Makeup is not a tool meant to make an ugly thing beautiful. It is meant only to magnify the beauty that already exists.”

To be honest, I bought the Holiday Collection mainly because of the pretty clutch (bling!). I am never a fan of wearing lip gloss due to my dry, chapped lips. And conventional lip gloss has the tacky texture that sticks my dead skin off my lips making it look very gross. However, my repulsion towards lip gloss seemed to end with Savvy Minerals when I tried wearing it earlier – it doesn’t feel tacky at all and it’s so nourishing to my dry lips! And… it has a nice minty sensation from the Peppermint essential oil in it 😉 So I’m a lip gloss convert now!

Do you wear makeup?

I have stopped wearing makeup over the past 1 year because I have sensitive acne-prone skin and my skin condition will get worse whenever I wear makeup as the chemicals tend to irritate my skin. Now that Savvy Minerals is available in Singapore, this might be a great opportunity for me to experiment with natural makeup looks 😉

Now let’s hear from you – have you tried natural makeup before?

Would you be keen to try the Savvy Minerals makeup line?
