BRUNCH @ PADDY HILLS
I‘ve been wanting to try Paddy Hills out after seeing infamous posts of their super pretty Berry Ricotta Hotcake 😀
Hence I finally found the opportune time to visit and make Sweetie Muffin drive me there on a public holiday as the place is rather inaccessible.

Arrival
We were lucky to get a parking lot as soon as we arrived at about 12.30pm. Do note that their parking lots are pretty limited.
The café was packed to its brim when we arrived – waiting time was at least 30 minutes and the staff took down our contact number and we were left to loiter around the place thereafter..

The café is surrounded by landed property – nothing interesting in particular besides the cute painted walls outside where I took time to camwhore 🙂

Menu
Daytime Eats Menu |
Paddy Hills offer a reasonable variety of dishes on their menu and the menu was divided into Daytime and Nighttime eats.
Pricing wise was above average in my personal opinion, so the food quality and taste must justify its pricing.

Ambience
We were assigned to sit by the bar where we get to see their chefs preparing food and drinks.
We noticed that the baristas were really serious looking when they were making their coffees as they actually do measure the water temperature etc. We were like so amazed that a small cup of coffee took so much effort to prepare!

Food
We ordered a few dishes which we deemed palatable whilst browsing through Instagram.
Insta-worthy Shot!! |
Purple Lemonade (S$7.50)
Thyme, Blackcurrant, Berries and Orange Blossom
Purple Lemonade (S$7.50) |
This drink looks great on photos but taste wise was just too fizzy to our liking. Also, they added too much ice to the drink 🙁
See the top part of the glass – all ice!! |
How it looks like when we mixed all ingredients together 😀 |
Berry Ricotta Hotcake (SGD20)
Violet Sugar, Berries, Pine Nuts, Yuzu Gel, Yellow Mascarpone and Maple Syrup
Berry Ricotta Hotcake (SGD20) |
The gleeful mixture of berries made this dish so insta-worthy and pretty in every angle!
Top-Down Shot |
Texture of the hotcake is very very soft, moist and fluffy. The hotcake is rather thick and serving portion is huge for one person and hence I only managed to finish half.
Look how fluffy the hotcake is! |
This is definitely the MUST-TRY item when you visit Paddy Hills 🙂
Potato and Fish (SGD24)
Rosti, Seared Sea Bass, Fried Egg and Maki
This dish is interesting looking.. You seldom see people throwing a maki into the dish right?
Potato and Fish (SGD24) |
I was surprised that their Seared Sea Bass tasted so good because I was never a fan of fishes. The only fish I find edible is salmon.
The Seared Sea Bass served by them did not contain any fishy smell to my amazement and it tasted great too! Oh yes, by the way we swapped the fried egg with wobbly Sous Vide Egg!
The only downside is that rosti tasted like mee suah (面线 or rice vermicelli) when soggy as it was soaked with the sauce underneath and I preferred my rosti to taste crispy 🙁
Overall
It was a rather great experience dining at Paddy Hills but we wouldn’t wanna travel all the way to South Buona Vista just to visit this café as there are other nice food establishments which are more accessible. Perhaps I might wanna learn how to make their hotcakes and make them in my own house instead… LOL!
