Kota Kinabalu Trip, Aug 2015

Getaway to Kota Kinabalu

I was away during the long Golden Jubilee #SG50 weekends to Kota Kinabalu to attend my bestie’s beach wedding @ the Rasa Ria Resorts 🙂

We woke up really early on Saturday morning to take a cab into Johor Bahru at 3am in the morning just to catch a flight to Sabah from JB. Geez that was no fun because we were all sleep-deprived!

 Day 1 (8 Aug 2015) – Wedding

We were welcomed with interesting music upon our approval.

We managed to catch a glimpse of the bride upon our arrival 🙂 Then we checked-in to our suite and started our mini tour around the resorts.

Guest Suite

We managed to take a few nice OOTDs at the resort before heading back to prepare for the beach wedding 🙂

I’m so loving the zipper blouse from MDS Collections and the elastic shorts from Taipei 🙂

Oh yes, we went to the recreation corner and played Janga. Didn’t expect the hubby to be so pro at playing it.. Hey but 我也不是省油的灯!

What is the result? I’ll let you guys guess lah 😛
After our long ‘battle’ over Janga, we went back to the hotel suite to prepare for the wedding dinner in the evening.. The weather was so erratic, the sky actually gave way and rained cats and dogs whilst we were playing Janga and hence the beach wedding was changed indoors instead *Geez*
Oh well, but all’s not lost yet. The indoors wedding at the ballroom was not a bad choice either 🙂

Look at the pretty décor? So romantic ~~~

 Day 2 (9 August 2015) – Island Hopping

 Happy Birthday Singapore!!
Although we are physically not in Singapore to celebrate our nation’s Golden Jubilee, we were singing “This is Home” from Kota Kinabalu. We are Singaporeans, wherever we are and our hearts beat as one as we celebrate our nation’s success!

OK enough of those patriotic proclamation – we bought the Island Hopping pass and would be taking the speedboat to different islands on Kota Kinabalu 🙂

We boarded the speedboat at the pier and are ready to depart anytime!

The last time I took a speedboat was almost a decade ago.

The sea was choppy and the boat ride was really bumpy and it felt like a roller coaster ride somehow… *So Scary*

In fact I was so scared that I almost suffered from a panic attack just to realise that the only trick to calm myself down is to look straight ahead instead of at the ground!

The waters are clear at the beach but the tide was a little too low for snorkelling. Hence we simply walked around and picnicked for a while.

Then, we went into the beach to play with the waters.

Our friend’s son – Ryan was hesitant to join at first as he was afraid of the waters but he gradually enjoyed himself later 🙂

When the tides got higher, the guys went to the sea for snorkelling whilst I sat at the edge and enjoy the sea breeze 🙂

Muffin’s wedding band has been pretty lose when we got it from Love Atelier by Goldheart and he has been hesitant to alter it as he thought that it is good to have some allowance..
But…
It seemed fated that the wedding band decided to slip out of his finger during his snorkelling ;(

My RING is GONE!

The EMO hubby..
We’re trying to see if we can claim from the travel insurance to subsidise the new ring purchase but what’s gone will be gone sadly 🙁
Next up, we went to the Manukan Island for lunch and more snorkelling.

Al Fresco lunch at the restaurant was pretty awesome as we got to lie on the couch and have our siesta whilst the others continued with their island expedition. However do not expect prompt service from the waiters as the service was super slow – Muffin waited more than half an hour for his food to arrive to realise that it was not keyed into the order…

Highlight of the lunch was that the guys actually captured a Sea Cucumber back alive!!!
See how eeeeky and squeaky it looked!!

Bonding with the Sea Cucumber…

For dinner, the newly-weds treated us to a… SEAFOOD FEAST!

Feasting @ Welcome Seafood Restaurant

Prawns so big that looked so meaty and succulent!!

We went to the observatory tower to enjoy KK’s night view after dinner for one last time before heading back to our Sunny Island – Singapore 🙂

Back to Singapore – I was ILL

I contracted gastritis shortly after I am back.. Might be because of all the good food I head earlier I think.. I kind of slept for one entire day feeling weak and restless 🙁
The pain was so bad that I teared up quite badly and my eyelash extensions from True Eyelash Beauty started to fall out in clumps.

Do hop over to my previous blog post HERE to find out more about the #SG50 promos True Eyelash Beauty is offering! Promo is valid till end of August 🙂
