Bangkok Travelogue 2016: Day 3

Our 4th Anniversary – Trip to Bangkok (Part 3)

We woke up bright and early in the morning and had our buffet breakfast at the hotel again. It has been our daily ritual to dine at the hotel ever since we were in Bangkok to have our breakfast in the hotel because it is very convenient 😻

Our plan for the Day 3 includes:

  • Collect the Hub’s tailored Shirt @ Lee’s Fashion
  • Exploring Chatuchak
  • Café Hopping
  • Body Massage
  • Seafood & Bird’s Nest @ Chinatown

Vlog

Oh yes, please watch our vlog below because it is a lot more detailed than my blog entry 😜

 Chatuchak, Bangkok

Chatuchak Weekend Market (or Jatujak Market) is a popular shopping place to the native Thais as well as a must-visit tourist spot.

It houses a vast array of merchandise (ranging from fashion apparels, homewares, art, plants etc) to cater to different groups of visitors. It is opened from 6am to 6pm during the weekends (Friday – Sunday). The florist / plants section is opened from 6am to 6pm from Wednesday – Sunday.

On our way to Chatuchak, we stopped over at the Erawan Shrine and marvelled at the massive crowd formed by devout buddhists.

After our stopover at Erwan Shrine, I had my first ever train ride from Chit Lom Station to Mo Chit Station, where the Chatuchak Weekend Market is located 💖

Bangkok Travelogue Day 3

YAY to my first train ride in Bangkok!!

Train fare cost 42THB for the both of us.

The weather was so sweltering hot at Chatuchak as it was an open area with minimal air-condition and it was swarmed with people. We only walked between Section 2 – 4 of Chatuchak where the fashion apparels are located.

Thai Milk Tea @ Chatuchak

We were all perspiring like mad and hence we felt that it was mandatory for us to grab some iced Thai Milk Tea from Chao Guay Khun Jum – a prominent-looking stall located between Sections 2-4 of Chatuchak.

On our way back to the train station, we caught our eyes on Mochi Ice-Cream from Mochi Lato and bought some to cool our body temperature down 😹

At the Mo Chit Station, we were shocked to see a huge crowd of commuters queuing up to exchange their notes to loose coins as we realized that the ticketing machines do not accept notes.

Hence there was a long queue to exchange for coins and another queue to purchase train tickets from the ticketing machine 🙀

We felt so fortunate that we do not experience such human jams in our MRT stations in Singapore as our ticketing machines accept coins, notes and ATM cards 😹

Café Hopping Time – Mr Jones’ Orphanage

We need AIR-CONDITION!!! Hence we are back to Siam Center for some serious café hopping.

St Jones' OrphanageSo we were here at Mr Jones’ Orphanage  – a very cute teddy bear themed café to relish our childhood *hehehe* 😹

The food served at Mr Jones’ Orphanage are mainly teas and desserts which look so tempting 😻

Body Massage @ Lek Massage

Since we were already at Siam Center, no harm for another body massage right? We decided to try Lek Massage as it was another featured massage parlour by fellow blogger – Ladyironchef.

The body massage was pretty disappointing as my masseur was pretty lazy and complacent with her inconsistent strokes. She slowed down her movements to almost a standstill the moment I closed my eyes. So I to move my body and open my eyes a little to prove that I’m NOT sleeping so that she will push harder – geez, I can’t say that the entire session was relaxing..

But, the highlight there was that we bumped into Singaporean Vocalist – Fang Zhong Hua doing his foot massage there *hehehe*

Chinatown

How can Chinese not visit Chinatown when in Bangkok right?

I had my virgin Tuk Tuk ride from Siam all the way to Chinatown in the midst of the nasty traffic jam.

Chinatown ChinatownThe must-try food in Chinatown will be their Seafood and Bird’s Nest because they are super affordable!

Bird’s Nest @ Nam Sing Bird Nest – Shark Fin

Next up, we ordered some Bird’s Nest from Nam Sing Bird Nest – Shark Fin – a very traditional looking Chinese restaurant.
