[Advertorial] An {Extrodinary} Brow Embroidery Experience
This review on my Brown Enliven experience with Highbrow is supposed to be posted earlier in January this year but I was too busy with my wedding preparations that I kind of forgotten about it until recently somebody actually complimented that my eyebrows looked gorgeous and flattering on me that I remembered about it!
Highbrow name their eyebrow embroidery method as “Brow Enliven” instead of the conventional 3D / 4D Creative Eyebrow Embroidery.

What is Brow Enliven?
Brow Enliven is an almost painless brow treatment that produces more natural and finely detailed eyebrows verses other types of eyebrow embroidery methods.
Can Last How Long?
If you are looking at a semi-permanent method, it will usually last about 6 – 9 months for the first session. This can be extended to 1.5 – 2 years provided if a touch-up is done within 6 months from first session depending on individual’s skin condition.
Procedure
#1: Consultation
I was attended by Highbrow‘s Creative Director – Andy who invented Brow Enliven based on his wealth of experience in doing eyebrow embroidery.
Consultation with Creative Director, Andy |
During the consultation process, Andy observed that I have sensitive skin that turns red easily and he frankly told me that the Brow Enliven would last on my face for 6 months at most. I really admire his candidness as I would’ve felt cheated if I were to pay for something which I expected would last me for a year or more.
I’ve got so many questions to ask!! |
Then we had a brief chat on what kind of brow shapes do I like and which type would suit my face shape. I told Andy that I admired the straight and thick brows which are popular among Korean celebrities but Andy advised that a pair of straight brows would make my face look more stretched sideways. Hence he would tweak the shape a little and give me some arch to match my already round face.
#2: Sketching the Shape
The sketching process took longer than usual as Andy had to make me look at different directions / angles and make different expressions and observe how my brows would appear under different circumstances.
Making me look upwards to observe my brow shape |
Once he is done with the observations, he assisted to shape my eyebrows and got rid of some unwanted hair using a razor.
Brow trimming and shaping |
Then, he started sketching the desired eyebrow shape strand by strand using his specially sharpened brow pencil. Everything was done professionally and precisely according to his expertise.
Once he was done with the sketching, he then showed me the design for my approval. The sketch looked very natural as every strand of eyebrow was detailed there which left me feeling nothing but impressed.

#3: Numbing
Feels like lying in the operating theatre 😀 |
Once the design is confirmed, Andy applied numbing cream on my brows and pasted a piece of fresh wrap on top to let the cream settle on my brows. I was then instructed to lie on the chair with my eyes closed so as to minimise movement to my brows and prevent the sketch from getting smudged due to friction with the wrapper.

Hence, I rotted there for 20 good minutes before Andy came back to check on me 🙂
#4: Embroidering
The uniqueness of Brow Enliven is that 3 different blades are used on my brows.
According to Andy, he observed that our eyebrow hair appear differently on different areas of the brow i.e. the starting of it is thick and bushy, it gets pretty medium in the middle and finally sparse and fine at the end. Hence 3 blades are used in the process.
To ensure hygiene, only new blades would be used every time and they would be disposed afterwards.

The dyes used in Brow Enliven are organic without any artificial chemical additions and hence are safe for use on sensitive skin. However, it would still be good to inform the staff if you have any allergies to dyes.

Getting prepared for the embroidery |
Commence Embroidering… |
As and when the blade glides across my eyebrows, I would hear a scratching sound but not feel a thing till the numbing cream wears off.
Andy had been very gentle throughout the process, and even reapplied the numbing cream on my brows as the numbing effect wore off. Hence the pain I experienced was very minimal under his hands.
#5: Reapplying the Dyes
After the embroidering process, Andy reapplied the dyes on my brows to make my skin ‘absorb’ the dyes better to attain a more lasting effect.
Don’t my brows look like seaweed? |
After soaking my brows in the dyes for quite some time, Andy came back to remove the excess dyes using a wet tissue paper.
Ignore my spastic grin.. But we’re FINALLY DONE!!! (not quite) |
#6: After Care
Aftercare Products |
After getting my brows “sliced” by the blades, I need to apply some ointment on my wounds till they recover.
Hence I was presented with the After Care Kit to treat my brows.
Oh yes, the After-Care Kit came with printed instructions too! 🙂
I used them religiously as per the prescribed instructions for a week.
#7: Touch-Up
Andy did used a lighter dye on my brows for my first Brow Enliven session as it would be easier for him to make modifications to my brow shape if I’m dissatisfied with the results after I go home.
Hence for my case, a touch-up was recommended to be done 1 month after the first Brow Enliven session.
I specifically requested for Andy to emphasise more on my brow arch as I realised that the straight brows were really making my face looks more bloated. Hence Andy adjusted the arch of my brows a little during the touch-up and I was totally pleased with the final results.
Oh yes, there will be remaining after-care products from the previous session and hence you can reuse the products after you have done the touch-up 🙂

My Review
My experience with Highbrow was awesome – not because it is a sponsored treatment but because I was truly impressed by Andy’s professionalism and attentiveness throughout the entire process.
Moreover the results are pretty lasting on my sensitive skin although it has started to fade (only 8 months later). I can still step out of my house by touching up my brows using some brow powder nowadays and they would look very natural 😀
I wouldn’t say the treatment is affordable but I can tell you that it is worth every penny — you wouldn’t want to pay S$200 only to get disfigured or have to return for endless touch-ups right?
