We were very fortunate to be hosted by the bistro for this private food tasting over dinner and both Sweetie Muffin and I arrived earlier to enjoy the sea breeze. Both of us felt that the East Coast Park would be an ideal place for family day especially for families with kids as we saw kids roller-skating and cycling along the pavements.

Cocktails / Mocktails

Upon arrival at the bistro, the Operations Manager – Andy recommended us to start our meals with a Lady in Pink Cocktail, a sweet and refreshing blend of berries and is a hot favourite among ladies 🙂

How lovely it is to catch the sunset over a couple of drinks right?

If none of the cocktails from the bistro’s selections do not suit you, fret not. They can always customise a concoction for you based on your preference 🙂

Yummy Snacks

Sunrise Bistro and Bar, East Coast Parkway
Luncheon Chips + Truffle Fries

Truffle Fries
The Truffle Fries were one of the best we tasted as the taste of truffle oil is pretty rich in this.

Luncheon Chips
As for their luncheon chips, it was super crispy in texture and we had difficulties to resist in stealing an extra bite of these chips! It was so unbelievable that the chef managed to slice the chips so thinly 😀

Seafood Chowder Soup (SGD12++)

Creamy Seafood Soup with Seasonal Fresh Seafood topped with Chopped Chives and Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Seafood Chowder Soup (SGD12++)
We really enjoyed this soup as a starter to warm our palate.
Tastewise was not overbearing with its creaminess and the unique part is that they will actually top this soup with seasonal fresh seafood items such as mussels and squid in this case.

Seared Foie Gras (SGD19++)

Seared goose liver on brioche bread layered with mango with citrus jam and berry compote

Sunrise Bistro and Bar, East Coast Parkway
Seared Foie Gras (SGD19++)
This is definitely NOT duck liver like most restaurants use. It is 100% GOOSE liver which in a sense is a grade higher than duck liver as goose is more smooth in its texture with an almost creamy and rich subtle flavour that is very sophisticated and fine.
Sunrise Bistro and Bar, East Coast Parkway
The mango with citrus jam and berry compote gives a tangy flavour which complements the somewhat strong goose liver taste.

Sunrise “Fish and Chips” (SGD26++)

Crispy Fried Red Snapper with Lemon Myrtle Pepper served with Mango Salsa, Tartare Sauce and French Fries

I didn’t quite like this dish as I could still taste the fishy taste in this dish somehow but the others were enjoying this dish 🙂

Karl’s beginning to hallucinate.. Perhaps he is too hungry over photo-taking and wanted to eat very badly 😛

Cereal Crusted Cod Fish (SGD28++)

Baked Cod Fish with Cereal Crust served with Seasonal Vegetable braised in Sesame Oil and Ginger Shoyu Broth

Sunrise Bistro and Bar, East Coast Parkway
Cereal Crusted Cod Fish (SGD28++)
This dish is surprisingly good! The fishy taste of the baked cod fish was well-masked under the cereal crust. Also the Sesame Oil and Ginger Shoyu Broth did add in some Chinese flavours to this dish.

Asian Five Spice Duck Leg Confit (SGD28++)

Sous Vide 8 Hours Crispy Duck Leg infused with Five Spice served with Citrus Salad and Passionfruit Sauce

Sunrise Bistro and Bar, East Coast Parkway
This is overall a delectable dish and we got the 2 superhero — Batman (Julius) and Superman (Justin) to pose with this dish 🙂
Sunrise Bistro and Bar, East Coast Parkway
I think they really enjoyed themselves throughout the tasting session!
By the way Julius is a Burpple Tastemaker and submits his reviews at http://www.burpple.com/@juliuslim and Justin blogs at https://sgfoodiary.wordpress.com.
Do hop over to read their food reviews real soon!

Marmite Canadian Pork Shoulder (SGD26++)

Sous Vide and Grilled Pork Shoulder with Marmite Marinate Served with Seasonal Vegetable

Sunrise Bistro and Bar, East Coast Parkway
Marmite Canadian Pork Shoulder (SGD26++)
 The meat was tender but simply lacking in the marmite taste although it was ironical that we can still smell marmite in it.

Instagramer @RainRaineEatAway is literally eating away this dish!!

BBQ Beef Short Ribs (SGD32++)

24 Hours Sous Vide to tender and roast with Homemade BBQ Sauce served with Seasonal Vegetables

BBQ Beef Short Ribs (SGD32++)
The beef ribs were a little hard to cut as there were too much tendon in it. However, we loved the taste of the Homemade BBQ Sauce.

Desserts!!

Lastly, the desserts were served and they were simply too hard to resist!!

Charlie Brown Cocktail + Salted Egg Yolk Custard Molten Chocolate Cake
IMG
Charlie Brown Cocktail
The Charlie Brown Cocktail is a sweet cocktail and substitute for a dessert dish due to its concoction of peanut butter, chocolate, baileys and other richly-flavoured ingredients. If you are sharp enough, this cocktail is served with Pepero Sticks on top!
IMG
The nutty flavour is very strong in this cocktail and it can get quite overbearing if you are just drinking it yourself.

Tiramisu Semi Freddo (SGD12++)

Semi Frozen Mascarpone Cheese Layered with Coffee Liquer Jelly Sponge topped with Milo Crunch and Tuile Biscuit

IMG
Tiramisu Semi Freddo (SGD12++)
This dessert tasted pretty much like tiramisu ice-cream as frozen mascarpone cheese is used in this.
IMG
Also, nostalgic local flavours are used to spice up this dessert – milo crunch!!

Salted Egg Yolk Custard Molten Chocolate Cake (SGD14++)

Warm Chocolate Cake with Melting Salted Egg Yolk Custard in the center served with Vanilla Ice-Cream

IMG
Salted Egg Yolk Custard Molten Chocolate Cake (SGD14++)
Leaving the BEST to the LAST, that is how I felt about the Salted Egg Yolk Custard Molten Chocolate Cake.
IMG
And yes, you did not see wrongly. The custard is made up of salted egg instead of the conventional chocolate which makes it savoury and not overly sweet.

Vlog

Yes! I have done a vlog featuring Smexybaby Karl’s awesome singing with the band – The Tripsters!!
And also, we got a packet of ready-to-cook Sous Vide Duck Confit to takeaway. I prepared it by boiling the packet in water and it tasted so YUM!
