Bangkok Travelogue 2016: Day 1

Our 4th Anniversary – Trip to Bangkok (Part 1)

Sweetie Muffin decided to take me to Bangkok to commemorate our 4th anniversary together as I have never been to Bangkok before. Also, I think it is the opportune time for me to revamp the wardrobe. I was so excited because I’ve always hear my friends say that Bangkok is one of the largest markets for wholesale fashion apparels and that means I can buy clothing at competitive pricing 😻

Full Vlog

Do check out below video on my entire day one’s travelogue in detail!!✈️

Arrival at Singapore Changi Airport

I was amused by the pretty décor at the Airport and we couldn’t help but stop to take a few shots to preserve our memory 😻😻

Apparently now the décor is London themed and I can’t help but snap some shots with the iconic RED telephone booth and London Bus!! ☎️

Bye Singapore!!!

Arrival at Bangkok

We arrived at the Suvarnabhumi Airport to see a crowd waiting to clear the customs 🙁 Hence we were delayed there for an hour or so before we traveled to our hotel.

Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok

We checked in to our hotel – Centara Watergate Pavilion Hotel.

Their reception counter was located at the 9th level where there is an open space with pavilions erected for guests to admire the cityscape.

Shopping & Lunch @ Platinum Fashion Mall

This is the must-go mall if you intend to revamp your wardrobe because it has almost all the clothing, shoes and accessories that you need✨

We dined at the food court and it is kind of weird that we need to purchase a prepaid card in order to buy our food from the respective stalls.

Getting Shirt Tailored @ Lee Fashion Tailor

Sweetie Muffin always get his shirts tailored in Bangkok because it is a lot cheaper than getting them tailored in Singapore😺

The benefits of getting his shirts tailored is that the shirts will be fitting and smart-looking on him as he is too skinny for off-the-rack shirts.

Sweetie Muffin used to patronise Alex Fashion Tailor regularly but he felt that the quality of the shirts so-so as the threads do fall off pretty quickly but it is still rather affordable in terms of pricing. This time round, Alex opened a new shop in Amari Watergate HotelLee Fashion Tailor which is much bigger in terms of surface area as well as the selection of fabrics. Also, the tailor used is different and hence he decided to try Lee Fashion Tailor out instead.

Relaxing Foot Massage

What is shopping without a relaxing foot massage right?

On our way to the massage parlour, we spotted the Siam Living Statue and was very impressed how the artist can stand one-legged in that position for so long 🙀

A shot with Siam Living Statue

Hence we went to NUMBER 1 for an hour’s foot massage before heading to Chinatown for dinner.

It is so true that a good massage means having a good masseur. My masseur is an experienced auntie and hence I enjoyed the process whereas a young lady was assigned to the hubs and it did not turn out very well for him as she lacked strength.

By the way, I realised that I forgot to snap a photo of the massage place as I was busy vlogging away with my camera 😹

Dinner @ Somboondee Seafood Market (We were duped!)

After the foot massage, we intended to take a cab down to Chinatown but the taxi driver advised that Chinatown is closed during the festive Chinese New Year season (it was already day 4 of CNY).

Hence he drove us over to Somboondee Seafood Market instead as he highly recommended it😾

Dinner @ Somboondee Seafood Market

The food at the Somboondee Seafood Market were generally overpriced and hence we only ordered a few dishes to share😿

By the way, this restaurant charges 10% Service Charge & 7% VAT on top of the menu pricing listed.

Sweetie Muffin is less upset since the food still tasted fine…

The service was so-so and when we footed our bill, a waitress approached us and enquired about our nationality. When we replied that we were from Singapore, she requested for us to give her our currency as a souvenir to her.

We innocently gave her a SGD2 note and realised that it was actually a ruse for her to ask for tips (yes, on top of the 10% service charge) as she went a little overboard to request for us to provide “souvenirs” to her colleagues (there were approx 3-4 crew in the line) as well. We rejected her politely before we cabbed back to the hotel straight 😡

We felt kind of duped for paying almost 900 THB (approx SGD40+) for a dinner that doesn’t wow us and we could’ve paid half the price for eating seafood at Chinatown. Its simply waste of my calories I would say 😾

Oh well, take it as lesson learnt on our first day in Bangkok then and I hope anyone reading my blog will not fall for the same ruse.
